This model is the Matchbox Yesteryear Ford Model T Van (1912) in Camberley News livery. This is an Official Code 2 model.
Produced by Mr. Gerry Ford, a designer fromf Fleet in Hampshire, England in 1980 who approached Lesney and the newspaper with his idea of making a quantity of promotional models for the newspapers 75th Anniversary (1905 to 1980). Colmans Mustard vans were purchased directly from a local Lesney wholesaler, Nurding & Peacock and stripped of their original labels and transfer lettering was painstakingly stencilled with the new signage in both black and red colours. 750 Camberley News models were made, and it is estimated that 500 were sold through a redemption offer with the newspaper at a price of £5.00 per model. The remaining models were sold direct to collectors at £6.00 per model. Each box had a white label stating that the lettering had not been applied by Lesney and giving each promotional model a number between 1 and 750. Although the models were produced in 1980, official permission was not obtained from Lesney Products until well into 1981, as policies on licences to alter Lesney models were still being clarified.
Livery: (Label) - 'CAMBERLEY NEWS 1905 - 1980' in black Gothic script sub-divided by a red scroll with '75th ANNIVERSARY' in yellow on the red scroll and directly beneath '1905 - 1980'.
